Battle of Talents

Dear students of the faculty of Economics and Business Administration,

As programme director of Business Engineering, I strongly support initiatives that have a clear added value for the development of our students and that give students extra chances to develop their enterpreneurial skills.

The yearly Battle of Talents is such an initiative that I strongly recommend to any student. If you are interested, then you better come to the short introduction session scheduled on Wednesday, October 15, 2014. Below you find the invitation letter. Don't wait until you are graduated and go into this unique opportunity to start your career today!

Invitation letter

Battle of Talents (BoT) – Organised by Venture Spirit – is THE student business plan competition. Teams from different Flemish universities, university colleges and business schools will compete each other for the coveted tittle “Flanders’ most promising entrepreneur”. Of course there are great prizes to be earned, such as the Electrabel Energy-prize; a direct ticket for the Telenet Idealabs valued at €25,000, and lots of tablets, iPhones, newspaper subscriptions, …

The goal of this competition is to stimulate innovation & entrepreneurship! Within Battle of Talents, students get encouraged to turn their ideas into successful businesses. The online creation of the business plans will be complemented with offline events (Coaching, CEO Café’s, Pitch training, etc.) hosted by our partners and sponsors BNP Paribas Fortis, Securex, Electrabel and Telenet to ensure the optimal entrepreneurship experience.

In previous editions, more than 3000 students participated. Together they have created over 500 ideas and turned some of them into viable business plans & businesses. A representative of the Battle of Talents committee will give a short 5 minutes introduction to our UGent students on Wednesday, October 15, 2014:

• 2^nd master: 12.50h - 13.00h (in auditorium Picard, Financiering van groeigerichte ondernemingen)
• 3^rd bachelor: 13.00h - 13.10h (in auditorium Quetelet, Productiebeleid)
• 1^st master: 13.10h - 13.20h (in auditorium Devreker, Project Management)
