Project Management and Scheduling

Project Management and Scheduling

Universitat Politècnica de València and Universitat de València, Spain

PMS is an international conference series devoted to Project Management and Scheduling. It was inaugurated by the European Working Group on Project Management and Scheduling (EWG), coordinated by Prof. Jan Weglarz from the Poznan University of Technology (Poland). The EWG gathers together more than hundred members, primarily from various European countries.

The EWG decided to organize a workshop every two years. The workshops provide an ideal opportunity to discuss recent and important issues in the field of project management (planning, scheduling, control) and machine scheduling (single and parallel machine problems, flow shop, job shop, etc.). This year, the conference is held in Valencia under the guidance of Prof. R. Ruiz. More information can be found at www.pms2016.com.

From 19 to 22 April 2016 in Valencia (Spain)
15th International Conference on Project Management and Scheduling

The Operations Research & Scheduling group is well presented in this year's conference with six presentations.

The presentation "Capital constraints and net present value optimization in project scheduling" by Pieter Leyman and Mario Vanhoucke aims at proposing an optimization algorithm that solves resource-constrained project scheduling problems to maximize the net present value under different classes of payment models and capital constraints. It builds further on the work published here.

The paper "A quantitative approach to project incentive contracts" published in Omega is presented by Louis-Philippe Kerkhove and Mario Vanhoucke to showcase their novel quantititave framework on incentivized project contracting. The full paper of the model can be found here.

In "Buffer monitoring: Setting thresholds for corrective actions", a new buffer management approach based on the assembly of Earned Value and Earned Duration methods has been proposed by Annelies Martens and Mario Vanhoucke.

In "Flexibility by design for the MRCPSP", Jeroen Burgelman and Mario Vanhoucke present a new problem formulation for the multi-mode resource-constrained project scheduling problem that maximizes the number of alternatives in the project baseline schedule.

The presentation entitled "A strategic analysis of the maintenance and repair activities of offshore windfarms" is given by Mick Van Den Eeckhout, Louis-Philippe Kerkhove and Mario Vanhoucke and will provide a summary of the awarded work by Arcelor Mittal.

Likewise, the presentation entitled "An empirical study on the impact of schedule adherence on the accuracy and stability of time forecasts taking into account sensitivity information" by Tom Servranckx, Jordy Batselier and Mario Vanhoucke will give an overview of the work awarded by PMI Belgium.
