International Conference on Project Management and Scheduling

The 13th International Conference on Project Management and Scheduling was interesting and inspiring.

Yesterday evening, Wednesday April 5, 2012, the biyearly conference was closed with a network dinner at the Brabanthallen in Leuven (Belgium).

The 13th International Conference on Project Management and Scheduling took place in Leuven, from April 1 till April 4, in the buildings of the Faculty of Business and Economics and was organized by the Operations Management Research Group of the Faculty of Business and Economics (KULeuven).

Erik Demeulemeester (Conference chair) and Willy Herroelen (Program chair) have done an excellent job to bring researchers and practitioners together to share ideas and to inspire young students to go on with the research on Project Management.

Two presentations were given with references to OR-AS products:

  • "Simulating time/cost trade-offs with uncertainty: a student experiment" by Mathieu Wauters, Mario Vanhoucke and Tom Van Acker. In this presentation, the Project Scheduling Game was used to present how students try to solve this game. Mathieu explained how the student strategies were analyzed and how these strategies can be used to obtain a good solution.
  • "A study on statistical techniques for project control" by Jeroen Colin and Mario Vanhoucke. In this presentation, P2 Engine was used to improve project performance measurement and project control using statistical project control. Jeroen illustrated the use and relevance of simulation to better control projects.
