Welcome to EVM Europe 2012

Welcome to EVM Europe 2012

The fourth edition of the annual Earned Value Management conference for Europe is organized in 2012 by the University of Twente, in collaboration with Ghent University and Vlerick Business School. The yearly EVM Europe conferences offer an outlet for practitioners and academic researchers to share their experience and knowledge with colleagues from the project management field. Just like every year, EVM Europe 2012 will propose a balanced combination of technical presentations, trainings and academic and innovative contributions.

The EVM Europe 2012 conference will be constituted of technical and selected presentations as well as invited presentations made by deemed practitioners and researchers working on Project Management and Control. The EVM Europe 2012 edition builds further on the success of the previous editions held in Geneva (Switzerland), Ghent (Belgium) and Valencia (Spain) and is the result of a close collaboration between the international organizing committee and the local committee of the University of Twente. The University of Twente is a research university which focuses on the development of technology and its impact on people and society. This focus can be seen in the range of 22 Bachelor's degree programs and 31 Master's degree programs which the university offers in the field of technology and behavioral and social sciences. There are 5,500 Bachelor's degree students and 2,500 Master's degree students at the University of Twente. If you wish to meet our team, you can find their names on the EVM Europe website.

It is no secret to tell you that workshops, conferences and trainings are having hard times in the last years. The number of participants goes down and the organization of workshops is often postponed by many organizations, “waiting for better times”. The crisis has an impact on all of us, and company trainings and workshops are often the first victims of the savings made by companies. We of course realized that the EVM Europe 2012 would also probably suffer from this hard period, but nevertheless we have chosen not to skip this edition to wait for better times but instead to show that integrated project controls is even more relevant than ever!

Therefore, we would like to warmly welcome our participants, speakers and sponsors to this edition of the EVM Europe 2012 conference. We hope that you will have two stimulating and inspiring days during the different presentations, during the talks with all your colleagues and during our evening dinner at the Faculty Club. And of course, we are proud to welcome our two well-known keynote speakers, dr Eddy Westerveld and Prof dr Pierre Bonnal.

Welcome to Enschede at the Conference Hotel Drienerburght, for an interesting two-day event on “Integrated Project Controls”!

On behalf of the Organizing Committee,
