Optimised scheduling for weather sensitive offshore construction projects
In our most recent publication in the Omega - The International Journal of Management Science, a novel heuristic model to optimize the planning of offshore construction projects is presented using Monte Carlo simulation to assess the impact of weather conditions.
On October 1st, 2016, two new members have joined our Operations Research & Scheduling group to start a research study as part of the CRA research project. Their research will focus on project management topics, including empirical data analysis, project scheduling, project forecasting and project control. Continuation of research guaranteed! New research papers to be expected!
On the use of multivariate regression methods for longest path calculations from earned value management observations
In our most recent publication in the Omega - The International Journal of Management Science, various multivariate regression models have been compared in a large computational experiment to validate and test the best performing methods for measuring and controlling the time of projects in progress.
September has been an excellent month for the Operations Research & Scheduling group at Ghent University. Three PhD students have presented their work to the jury and have defended their work in front of family and friends. All of them have publications in flagship academic journals and parts of their work are still under submission. I am happy and proud that I, Mario Vanhoucke, acted as an advisor for these three young new academics!
